Ready for another incredible Pokémon TCG set?

The Pokémon Company has certainly been busy in 2024 already and a brand new announcement about the next official set has just taken place. It’s called Temporal Forces – you may remember that we alluded to it in a previous news post – and it looks like it could be one of the best Pokémon sets in 2024.

Here’s everything we know about Temporal Forces so far, including when it comes out, the product list, and the general vibes that fans can expect to see.

It Comes Out In March This Year

Firstly, Temporal Forces will be dropping on the 22nd of March this year.

This will be a busy day for Pokémon fans, as other products like the new ex Deluxe Battle Decks will also be releasing then. This is also the date that we can likely expect to see the Japanese set Crimson Haze, which appears to be based on The Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

The pre-release period for Temporal Forces should be from March 9th to March 17th in most locations, so fans won’t have long to wait if they want to get their hands on these products as soon as possible.

There will be over 160 cards in this set, featuring a plethora of exciting elements like lots of Ancient and Future Pokémon, type-shifted Tera ex cards, ex cards for new Pokémon, and Trainer cards with special illustrations. It’s looking like a beautiful set so far.

This Set Will Be Re-Introducing ACE SPEC Cards

One of the most notable things about the Temporal Forces set (and by extension, the Japanese equivalent Wild Force/Cyber Judge) is that it will be re-introducing a powerful card type to the Pokémon trading card game.

3 Ace Spec Cards Against A Lightning Background

If you’ve never seen ACE SPEC cards before, they’re a powerful card type that tends to fall into the main categories of Trainer cards and Item cards. They were originally introduced into the game back in 2012 with the Pokémon Black & White: Boundaries Crossed expansion set.

They came out of circulation in 2013 with the Pokémon Black & White: Plasma Blast expansion set, so it’s exciting to see them coming back into play officially.

These cards have such powerful abilities that you are only allowed to have one of them at a time in your deck. It’ll be interesting to see how the competitive community responds to ACE SPEC cards coming back and how it impacts the best decks in the scene.

The official announcement on the Pokémon site about Temporal Forces confirms that there will be 6 ACE SPEC Trainer cards and a single ACE SPEC Special Energy card. The actual cards haven’t been revealed yet, as a full card list is not available at the time of writing.

There Will Be Plenty Of Incredible Items Available

Fans will be hyped to know that there are plenty of great products on the way for Temporal Forces. March is set to be a big month for Pokémon releases (with the 1st of March bringing us items like new Stacking Tins and the Paldea Adventure Chest) but the Temporal Forces releases look like they’ll blow the other items out of the water.

We don’t have access to a full card list yet as mentioned – although a lot of the cards will likely come from the Japanese sets Wild Force and Cyber Judge which are coming out on the 26th of January – but we do know which products will be available. The product list includes:

  • Standard Booster Packs with 10 cards and an Energy card included. A sleeved Booster Pack option will also be available.
  • Booster Pack Bundles with 6 Booster Packs inside. Sleeved Booster Packs will also be available in this format.
  • Booster Pack Display Boxes with 36 Booster Packs inside.
  • Elite Trainer Boxes with two unique designs featuring Iron Leaves and Walking Wake. The Temporal Forces ETBs will feature damage counters and dice, a code card for Pokémon TCG Live, a player’s guide, a promo card with an Ancient/Future Pokémon depending on the ETB, 9 Booster Packs, 45 Energy cards, 65 themed card sleeves, and a themed collector’s box with dividers.
  • Blister Packs with Single and Triple options available. Single Blister Packs feature a promo card, a Booster Pack, and a Pokémon coin, and Triple Blister Packs feature a promo card and 3 Booster Packs.
  • Premium Checklane Blister Packs featuring 3 promo cards, a Booster Pack, and a Pokémon coin.
  • Build & Battle Boxes. The contents of these specific Build & Battle Boxes is not known, but they usually contain premade decks, promo cards, Booster Packs, and code cards for Pokémon TCG Live.

While some Pokémon releases may feel like they’re suited to one section of the community in particular, like collectors or competitive players for example, it’s clear that Temporal Forces will have something for everyone.
