It’s been a busy year for Pokémon fans, with plenty of set releases to keep up with and some interesting merch drops, too. One of the most exciting things that’s just been revealed by The Pokémon Company is a set of special ex decks featuring a trio of fan-favorite Pokémon.
This set of decks won’t be available everywhere, but it’s absolutely worth trying to get your hands on a deck or two if you’re a fan of the classic Pokémon TCG and Pokémon from the first generation.
Here’s what you need to know about the latest reveal from The Pokémon Company Japan.
The Set Will Be Releasing This Year
Firstly, this set will only be released in Japan. It’s unfortunate for fans in different locations who are keen on first generation Pokémon, but this is a region exclusive.
Fans outside of Japan will need to order through Japanese websites in order to get these decks. If you don’t already have a store in mind, make sure to shop around a bit, as some sites can be extortionate with their international shipping fees.
The other important thing to note is that this set of special ex decks will be coming out later this year. The official release date for Japan is the 10th of November, and the price that’s being discussed right now is 5,500 Yen.
October and November are set to be incredibly busy for Pokémon fans. Ancient Roar and Future Flash are coming out this month, right after seasonal items for Halloween, and November will be focusing mainly on Paradox Rift.
The Cards Feature Beautiful Alternate Art
The cards that we’ve seen so far for this deck are absolutely stunning.
The stars of the show are, of course, ex reprints of Blastoise, Venusaur, and Charizard from Scarlet & Violet – 151, and the artwork on the cards is incredibly vibrant.
It’s likely that the Charizard card will be a worthy pick for investors who like to make money on their cards, as Charizard cards seem to be performing well on the market right now.
Along with the starter cards, there are some other interesting additions to look out for. We can expect to see reprints of Armarouge (also from the 151 set), Keldeo from the Astral Radiance set, and Tropius from the Paldea Evolved set.
The Decks Come With Extra Handy Items
Along with the regular 60-card decks, there are a few other items that fans can expect to get when purchasing. These include:
- A playmat
- A first-time player’s guide and a manual
- A damage counter case
- A storage box
- Two sheets of damage/condition markers
- Three Pokémon coins
This bundle of handy items would make one of these decks a great pick for a first-time player who’s looking to hit the ground running with some classic Pokémon. These special ex decks look fantastic, and it’ll be exciting to see how the community reacts to them in November. Decks themed around starter Pokémon almost always go down well with fans.
