Pokémon TCG Ancient Roar and Future Flash: A Summary

Future Flash Ancient Roar Card Packs Celestial Background

If you’re trying to keep tabs on the latest Pokémon TCG releases, you may be aware that the Japanese sets Ancient Roar and Future Flash are coming out very soon. These sets look incredible so far, and there’s been a lot of hype from the community about them too, as they tie into the Paradox Rift set.

There’s been some confusion over what the sets will contain and when fans can expect to see them, so we’ve gathered up the most important issue for Pokémon fans to keep in mind about these upcoming launches.

Here’s everything you need to know about Pokémon Ancient Roar and Future Flash.

Both Sets Come Out In October

To start, it’s important to note that both of these sets should be launching on the 27th of October this year.

These are Japanese sets, so if you’re not based in Japan, you’ll need to purchase them through a Japanese website or retailer. At the time of writing, the launch is just over a month away, so if you already know which retailer you want to pick up your cards from, make sure to check whether they’ve got pre-orders open or not.

It’s quite a busy month for Pokémon TCG fans – with lots of interesting drops happening in most locations on the 6th of October, including items like the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet – 151 Ex Boxes and Mini Tins.

These Sets Have A Very Specific Theme

The Ancient Roar and Future Flash sets will be featuring a lot of Paradox Pokémon, which is exciting as this has the potential to change the competitive scene quite a lot.

Currently, a complete card list has not been revealed but from what we know so far, Ancient Roar is themed around Roaring Moon and Future Flash is themed around Iron Valiant. Roaring Moon is the Paradox version of Salamence and Iron Valiant is themed around both Gardevoir and Gallade.

There’s also a brand new Paradox Pokémon card dropping in this set- and the artwork for this card that has been shown off already looks incredibly cool.

Iron Jugulis is a Paradox form of Hydreigon. This card looks like it could have some serious potential in competitive play and the artwork is sure to make it a hit with collectors too.

Some Cards Have Been Revealed Already

There hasn’t been a complete card list revealed yet at the time of writing, but the cards that we have been able to get a look at so far look amazing.

The cards that we know about include plenty of Paradox Pokémon, both Ancient and Futuristic. In Ancient Roar, you’ll be able to see Paradox Pokémon like Scream Tail and Slither Wing, and in Future Flash, you’ll be able to see Paradox Pokémon like Iron Moth and Iron Bundle.

Paradox Pokemon Card Previews

There are also some incredibly cool ex cards, like the Iron Valiant ex from Future Flash and the Roaring Moon ex from Ancient Roar. Interestingly, there’s also an ex card for Sandy Shocks in Ancient Roar, which is the Paradox version of Magneton.

Aside from the Paradox Pokémon cards, there are some other brilliant cards that are sure to be a hit with fans. There’s plenty of great Supporter cards, for example. Professor Turo’s Scenario and Professor Sada’s Determination are incredibly well made cards that seem to serve the same purpose but fit their appropriate set’s theme perfectly.

The Tulip and Mela Supporter cards are likely to be quite popular, too.

All in all, finishing the year with both the Ancient Roar and Future Flash sets and Paradox Rift is going to be incredibly exciting. These sets look wonderful, and some of the cards could potentially hold a lot of value for folk who like to make money off of their collection.

There Will Be Lots For Fans to Choose From

Something that The Pokémon Company has done well this year is offer plenty of variety with each set release. This dual release is no different. There will be plenty of cards and product types to choose from, including regular booster boxes with 30 packs inside.

The amount of cards in the release is currently unknown but the data on Serebii.net points to 66 regular cards for each set and an unspecified amount of special cards.

There’s also another Japanese card product coming out almost directly after Ancient Roar and Future Flash which appear to be special decks featuring ex cards of Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard. There’s not much known about these products currently, but they sound exciting and are likely linked to the Pokémon TCG Classic set.

Put simply, there’s a lot to look forward to as a Pokémon fan right now. There have even been whispers of other sets coming out, thanks to various trademarks being coined by The Pokémon Company, including Shiny Treasure, Wild Force, and Cyber Judge.

Once we’ve got more information on those sets or what they could be, we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop. Shiny Treasure is likely a premium High Class pack, featuring predominantly shiny Pokémon. This is currently a rumor but we could see it in December this year.

The names Wild Force and Cyber Judge sound like they could be similar Paradox-themed sets, but it’s hard to say with certainty for now.
