Magic: The Gathering has had some incredible releases this year, and 2024 is already setting up to be a very exciting year for the franchise. The release schedule kicks off fairly early in the year, with new cards, sets, and products dropping quickly after Christmas.
One of the most anxiously awaited releases for 2024 is Murders At Karlov Manor. This mysterious set takes players back to the fan-favorite location of Ravnica, and so far, it’s looking like it’s going to be a lot of fun to play.
There isn’t much information out right now about this release, but we’ve gathered up everything we know so far – including the release date and whether the set is going to be legal for Standard MTG matches – in this article.
When Will Murders At Karlov Manor Be Released?
Firstly, this set will be coming out in the early months of 2024.
More specifically, the release date announced on the official Magic site is the 9th of February 2024. There’s no mention of any region-specific dates or pre-release events yet, so it’s safe to assume for now that this release date will be for the vast majority of locations.
What Kind Of Set Will It Be?
As noted, there wasn’t much information to look through in the release date announcement. There have been some rumors and theories going around about this set, but there is not much in the way of official, confirmed information right now.
There was no mention of a card list or product list, and the only notable piece of information that we took from it was that Karlov Manor is going to be the first Standard-legal set release of the year in 2024.
Along with the short but sweet article, there was a stunning piece of game artwork by the talented Magic artist Ekaterina Burmak. It sets the tone for what fans can expect from this release perfectly.
Murders At Karlov Manor should be launching directly after the Ravnica Remastered set, which will be coming out on the 12th of January next year. This set explores the location of Ravnica in more depth, looking at iconic characters and lands from the massive list of 13 sets that Ravnica has been featured in over the years.
It’s going to be intriguing to see how the Magic community reacts to this release.
It’s been a bit of a rough patch for Magic: The Gathering lately, with a large group of fans being vocal about their disappointment with the quality of the recent The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth release. These cards were dubbed as poor quality and a waste of money by some fans, which is a real shame considering how beloved the LotR series is.
The Murders At Karlov Manor set certainly looks promising, though. The coming year is set to be a big one for Magic fans already, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
