Lorcana Will Be Doing Its First Reprint This Year

It’s been a busy year for Disney’s trading card game Lorcana. The First Chapter was a great success with fans, and both the collector’s community and the competitive player’s community seem to be enjoying the game immensely.
While many in the scene were expecting Lorcana to be a hit, it’s fair to say that the new addition to the TCG scene has absolutely exceeded almost everyone’s expectations. It’s easy to see why this has happened, too. The cards are beautiful, there’s value for both collectors and players, and the gameplay is a lot of fun.
With that, is it any wonder that the first Lorcana reprint is already on the way? Here’s everything you need to know about the reprint, including when you’ll be able to get cards and how it ties into the new Rise of the Floodborn expansion, too.
The Reprint Will Be Happening Very Soon
Initially, the first reprint for Lorcana was meant to be happening in the first quarter of 2024. It’s been bumped up due to the massive demand for the game, so it’ll be coming out this year instead for most locations.
Currently, all we know is that the target is to get the reprint sorted for North America during the holiday season this year. Other locations, like Europe, won’t have much longer to wait as the reprint should be available in January next year.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Disney and Ravensburger choose to operate with the split-launch model that they’ve been using for this reprint launch. For The First Chapter and Rise of the Floodborn, local stores and hobby shops get to launch the cards a few weeks ahead of the larger retailers.
It Will Include Rise of the Floodborn Cards
One of the most important things to note about this reprint is that it has been confirmed that Rise of the Floodborn cards will also be included.
There haven’t been any official statements on how large the reprint launch will be, but it should help to make sure that as many fans as possible can get their hands on the cards that they want.
Rise of the Floodborn is looking incredible so far, too.
This set is coming out towards the end of the year, and there have just been two new cards announced at the time of writing.
Mulan (Soldier in Training) and Hypnotize both have beautiful designs, and they look like they could make a real impact during a competitive match.
Mulan (Soldier in Training) has a few interesting qualities. It’s uninkable and has the Rush quality, making it quite a formidable mid game pick. Hypnotize is the real powerhouse here, though. It allows players to draw a card while every opponent is forced to discard one, which can be incredibly disruptive.
Rise of the Floodborn is set to build on the foundations of The First Chapter nicely, too. It’s sticking to the same format for the most part, but as we covered in our previously linked summary of the set, it is introducing a new card ability.
The new ability is called Resist and it has some powerful defensive potential, reducing all damage applied to the user by 2 overall.
2023 has already been monumental for Lorcana and it’s going to be very exciting to see where it goes next year. The fact that the reprint has been moved forwards already leaves room in the calendar for something else to potentially come out in the first quarter of 2024.
