What You Need to Know About Yu-Gi-Oh! Maze of Millennia

Maze of Milennia Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Firework Background

It’s getting to the point in the year where trading card companies are starting to announce their sets and schedules for next year already. The busy season for the entire gaming industry is upon us, and there’s a lot to look forward to already.

If you’re a Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG fan, you’ll be happy to know that an exciting set has already been announced for 2024. Maze of Millennia looks incredible so far, and it’s sure to appeal to both collectors and competitive players.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Maze of Millennia set, including crucial cards to watch out for and release dates.

It Comes Out In January

First things first, this set will be available for purchase right off the bat in the New Year.

The release date for Maze of Millenia is the 19th of January 2024 for the vast majority of locations. At the time of writing, some card stores already have their pre-orders open so make sure to check your favorite sites if you’re keen on getting some packs.

There Are Plenty of Cards to Pull

There have been some absolutely mammoth releases in 2023, like the First Chapter of Lorcana, and there are some pretty big ones on the horizon for 2024 too, like the first set for the Star Wars: Unlimited trading card game.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Maze of Millennia isn’t quite as vast as these sets, but there’s still a lot for fans to be excited about. There isn’t currently a card list available, but we do know what kinds of cards will be featured in the set. The list includes 85 cards overall, which include:

  • 1 Quarter-Century Secret Rare card
  • 11 Ultra Rare cards
  • 16 Super Rare cards
  • 57 Rare cards

Interestingly, 16 of the cards can also be found as Collector’s Rares, meaning that the Maze of Millennia set potentially holds a lot of value for investors.

The standard booster packs for this set feature 7 cards with 1 guaranteed foil card and 6 Rare cards, so there’s a good chance of seeing some special cards with just a few packs.

The Cards Are Suitable For Tournament Play

Something that was made very prevalent in all the official press releases for the Maze of Millennia set is that a lot of the cards are tournament friendly.

This is great to see, as it means there should be equal value for casual fans, competitive players, investors, and collectors. It’s not often that you see this in the trading card game world- usually, a set or expansion pack leans towards just collectors or just competitive players.

It’ll be interesting to see which Yu-Gi-Oh! releases follow this set and how the community responds to the various card types.

The Set Introduces Some Truly Useful Cards

Speaking of card types, there are some incredibly useful cards to be mindful of in the Maze of Millennia set. It’s a beautiful set, but it’s also very functional as well.

One thing that stands out is the variety of support additions. The set introduces the first ever Earthbound archetype support, which could have a huge impact on the meta. Additional support and team members can also be found for the following archetypes:

  • Arcana Force
  • Dark World
  • Fusion
  • Number
  • Photon
  • Synchro
  • Xyz

There are other key features to be excited about too, like the introduction of the Earthbound Servant and Armored Xyz archetypes. All in all, this set is looking like an absolute dream and it’ll be wicked to see how it affects competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! games in the New Year.
