Pokémon Fans Will Get Another Chance At the Van Gogh Card

The recent collaboration between The Pokémon Company and the Vincent Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam caused a lot of excitement in the TCG community. The collaboration revolves around a Pokémon-inspired Van Gogh exhibit, and it includes a lot of exclusive merchandise themed around the paintings.

The initial launch of the collaboration left many fans disappointed, though. One of the key sources of excitement was an exclusive Pikachu promo card, shown above, and the launch events were swarmed by scalpers looking to make easy money.

Thankfully, there’s been an update from The Pokémon Company and the Van Gogh Museum about what happens next. Here’s everything you need to know about how Pokémon fans can get another chance at the Van Gogh card.

The Card Will No Longer Be Available At the Vincent Van Gogh Museum

Firstly, one of the most important updates to note is that the Pikachu promo card will no longer be available in-person at the Vincent Van Gogh Museum.

The Museum posted an update in the official FAQ section of their website, noting that the card had been removed for concerns over safety. In this message, they highlight that the safety concern was only due to a small group of people who created ‘an undesirable situation’ but that they were aiming to protect their staff and visitors.

It’s important to note that the promo card is the only thing that has been removed. The exhibition and the rest of the merchandise is still available.

The Pikachu promo card will be available in early 2024 in the Netherlands, being held at participating retailers. Currently, the list of participating retailers is unknown.

There Will Be A Merch Restock Very Shortly

This is not the only way that fans will be able to get their hands on the promo card, though. There will be a restock of the Van Gogh merchandise on The Pokémon Center website soon, although the date for this is unknown at the time of writing. Keep an eye on official Pokémon social media channels for an update on this.

Based on the re-release date for the promo card in the Netherlands, it’s likely that we could see this restock taking place towards the very end of the year or in the New Year.

Along with this, the promo card will be added to eligible orders that are valued at $30 USD or higher. This will be limited to one promo card per order. The eligible items list is not available yet, but it’s likely that it will only be merchandise from the Van Gogh collection.

It’s a shame that the launch went downhill for The Pokémon Company and the Van Gogh Museum, but it’s a relief to see that fans will be able to get their hands on the card again soon.

If you’ve been thinking about buying it online, it’s worth waiting to see how the relaunch goes. Prices for the card are likely to go through some changes as more fans and investors react to the news of the relaunch and removal of the card from the museum.
