New Shiny Pokémon TCG Paldean Fates Set Launching Soon

Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Box Product Cover Mimikyu Art Cover

Have you ever been shiny hunting in one of the Pokémon video games? If you’re unfamiliar, shiny Pokémon are rare, color-swapped variants of regular Pokémon. Some of them are incredibly visually striking, while some of them just look a little odd – looking at you, Espeon.

Following the December release of the Japanese set Shiny Treasure ex, there’s a brand new set dropping for Pokémon fans in January called Paldean fates and it looks incredible. It’s set to be a huge release, with plenty of products for both collectors and competitive players.

Here’s everything you need to know, including the full product list and release date.

It Releases In January Next Year

2023 isn’t over yet and The Pokémon Company has already started making release announcements that take us up to March 2024. Fans won’t have that long to wait for the Paldean Fates launch, though.

This set will be coming out on the 26th of January 2024 in most locations. Most online card stores and hobby shops have pre-orders available already, so make sure to check out your favorite supplier if you’re looking to get your hands on the cards as quickly as possible.

The Set Focuses On Shiny Pokémon

As noted earlier, this set focuses on shiny Pokémon. That doesn’t mean the set will be exclusively shinies, though. Based on what the official Pokémon site has listed about this set, this is what we can expect to see:

  • Over 240 cards, with over 100 of those being shiny Pokémon
  • Ancient Pokémon, Future Pokémon, and Tera Pokémon
  • 6 Hyper Rare cards
  • Lots of interesting, full-art Supporter cards

While this set is looking like a must-have for competitive players, this is simply unmissable from a collector’s point of view. There hasn’t been a full card list revealed yet, but Poké Beach managed to get some pack openings up on their Twitter which is worth checking out.

The cards that have been officially confirmed include shiny versions of Pikachu, Tinkaton, Ceruledge, and Dondozo, along with Ancient Great Tusk and Future Iron Treads. Shiny Tera ex cards for Charizard, Forretress, and Espathra will also be present.

A lot of the artwork from the Japanese set Shiny Treasure ex will be in this English language set release, but it’s not been confirmed which cards in particular will be present.

There Will Be Plenty Of Products

As you might imagine for such an exciting set release, there will be plenty of different products for fans to choose from when purchasing. The items that will be featured in the Paldean Fates set release include:

  • Booster Packs with 10 cards and an Energy card.
  • Booster Bundles, containing 6 Booster Packs.
  • Mini Tins, with 2 Booster Packs, an art print, and stickers.
  • Tech Sticker Collections, with 3 Booster Packs, a Tech Sticker (to put on items like laptops), and a holofoil promo card.
  • Premium Collection Boxes with 8 Booster Packs, a 3-card display, 2 shiny promo cards, a shiny ex promo card, and an oversized shiny promo card.
  • Regular Tins with 4 Booster Packs and a shiny ex promo card.
  •

As with every big release, there’s also an Elite Trainer Box for the Paldean Fates release. This incredible item includes:

  • A code card for Pokémon TCG Live
  • A storage box with built-in dividers
  • A competition-legal coin-flip die
  • A player’s guide for the expansion
  • A full-art promo card with shiny Mimikyu
  • A full-art promo card with shiny Mimikyu and a Pokémon Center logo
  • 2 plastic condition markers
  • 6 damage counter dice
  • 11 Booster packs

This is a somewhat expensive product, but it offers immense value for money. If you’re prepared to buy a Paldean Fates item that’s on the pricier side, this is the one we’d recommend.

All in all, Paldean Fates is set to be an absolute masterpiece. Make sure to follow our official Instagram page if you’re interested in seeing some unboxings as soon as our team gets their hands on the cards – we’re all super excited to see the artwork and show everyone.
