If you’re a Lorcana player, you’ll know that one of the best things about being part of the community is the variety of events and tournaments that there are to take part in.
This weekend, the Lorcana team will be debuting a new kind of competitive play format at PAX Unplugged- and there will be some exclusive promotional cards that fans can pick up, too. Here’s everything you need to know about the promo cards and new play style.
The Cards Will Be Available At PAX Unplugged
If you’ve not heard of PAX Unplugged before, you’re missing out. This event is dedicated to showing the best in tabletop gaming and it takes place in Philadelphia, from the 1st of December to the 3rd. Take a look here for the full line-up on the official site.
Unsurprisingly, Lorcana will be showcasing at the event. As reported by TheGamer initially, spending $25 or more will guarantee you one of the exclusive promo cards shown below.
You can also obtain these cards by taking part in one of the various competitive Lorcana events that will be taking place at PAX Unplugged this weekend. Some of the sign-up periods for the events have closed now, but there will be free play opportunities and chances to trade or meet other community members during the weekend, too.
It’s important to note that, if you want all three cards, you’ll need to participate in events on every day of the convention.
Other Lorcana products will be available during PAX Unplugged, like Rise of the Floodborn cards, but Disney100 and The First Chapter items will not be up for grabs.
The New Competitive Event Is Called Willpower League
The competitive Lorcana scene has been steadily building in popularity throughout the year, with a huge community that seems to be growing daily. Lorcana tournaments tend to fall into two specific categories – constructed or sealed – but a new type is being added into the mix.
At PAX Unplugged this weekend, fans will be able to explore the Willpower League tournament set-up. Currently, no official rule set or guideline document is available, but it’s believed that the event will follow a King-of-the-Hill format where players will need to maintain their position and knock other players out of the tournament.
If you’re going to PAX Unplugged, it’s absolutely worth checking this out if you can. Lorcana is set to have an explosive year next year, with new releases already on the horizon.
