7 Most Expensive Digimon Animated Series Cards

Digimon hasn’t undergone the same nostalgia explosion Pokémon did, coming back better than ever. Instead, Digimon lives on in the hearts of the true 90s kids, those of us who were fans of Digimon know that its day has yet to come.

The Digimon Animates Series cards were some of the best trading cards of the early 2000s. They featured amazing holofoil patterns and great artwork. My personal collection is only a few cards away from a Master Set, but today I want to share with you the most expensive Animated Series cards to date.

7. Monzaemon U2

1

Starting off the list we have Monzaemon, and Ultimate Digimon.

The Ultimate Digimon are the rarest of the Animated Series, and even have their own subset. The Animated Series cards are numbered 1 through 34, but the Ultimate Digimon are an additional 8 cards on top of that, numbered as U(X) of 34.

For example, Monzaemon here is U2/34.

Monzaemon is one of the lesser-known Ultimate Digimon and unfortunately not very popular. A near-mint copy of this card will cost around $10-$15 on eBay.

6. Piximon U5

2

Piximon, another Ultimate Digimon is next up.

Ultimate Digimon cards also have a unique foil pattern called the Prism foil, or sometimes Prism holo. It’s no surprise that Piximon is a Pixie-type Digimon, and fans of Piximon will be familiar with its Pit Bomb move.

You can find this card on eBay in the $12-$18 range, but I’ve seen it go even lower when auctioned.

5. MegaKabuterimon U8

3

MegaKabuterimon, the beefed-up version of Kabuterimon also got an Ultimate Digimon card of its own!

This is my personal favorite Ultimate Digimon card and it’s partially due to the psychedelic background. The Prism holo mixed with the chosen color palette offers a very cool backdrop for MegaKabuterimon.

This card hovers around the $20 mark on eBay, but sometimes sells for $30+ if it’s in absolute pristine shape.

4. WereGarurumon U7

4

WereGarurumon is one of the most popular Digimon, with many cards going for high values.

The WereGarurumon U7 from the Animates Series is sought after, to be fair, and is actually a very beautiful card. WereGarurumon Digivolves from Garurumon, and animal-type Digimon, and becomes more human-like and powerful.

This card sees a jump in value over the previous entry on the list. You can find this one on eBay anywhere from $15-$45.

3. SkullGreymon U4

5

Many say that Greymon is the Charizard of Digimon, and they’d be… correct. He is similar in design and even color. So that means that Greymon is the chase card right?

Well, don’t forget that Greymon Digivolves. That’s why the next most valuable card is SkullGreymon!

One thing Digimon did way better than Pokémon was bring more dark and vicious character designs to the table. SkullGreymon is a great example here, basically representing a dragon-like beast made out of bones.

For a card like this, you’ll be paying money though. While many Digimon cards are affordable, SkullGreymon is selling for $50+ But I’ve seen it sell for less every now and then.

2. MetalGreymon U6

6

If you hadn’t noticed who was missing, it’s MetalGreymon.

MetalGreymon is actually an android Digimon, suggesting that his metal bits aren’t just armor! For real though, this card is really cool and well deserving of the most expensive Ultimate Digimon of the Animates Series cards.

You can find this bad boy on eBay in the $50-$100 range, depending on its condition and sometimes grade.

1. Gold Stamp Cards

7

In the trading card world, a serialized card means that it has a unique number. For example, you may have an Agumon with the number “75/100”. In that case, you have the only Veggiemon with “77/100” in the whole world.

Serialized cards are extremely rare since there are only 100 of each, and if you have one you’re very very lucky.

They sell for big money on eBay, especially if they are graded. If you have any Digimon serialized card graded a PSA 10, you can probably sell for at least five figures, which is pretty cool.

These are also sometimes known as “Gold Stamp” cards since the Digimon stamp is in gold for these ones.

It’s crazy that this one card alone is more expensive that buying a complete set of original cards.

Final Thoughts

I hope you enjoyed our list. Digimon cards are still cool, yes. The eBay market is actually pretty hot, so you can find a lot of these cards up for auction. As I mentioned in the intro, I’ve been collecting all of these and I have to say that bringing these cards together once again is absolutely wonderful.
