2023 has been a big year for the trading card scene so far, with countless exciting releases from big franchises and plenty of upcoming limited runs on the horizon. There have also been some changes to the ways that collectors can make money from their cards.

The eBay trading card scene is thriving as of late, with the recent updates to the platform making it better than ever for people looking to buy, sell, and organize their trading card collection online.

Here’s everything you need to know about eBay’s Trading Card Vault and the recent changes to the submission service.

You Can Submit Both Individual Cards and Collections

Whether you’ve snagged a particularly rare Pokémon card or you’ve got a One Piece card collection in the triple digits, you’ll be able to use the eBay Trading Card Vault services

It’s available for both individual cards and collections, opening up the Vault for collectors of all experience levels. You can send in cards straight from the eBay check-out, from home, or at certain card shows or events, like the National Sports Collectors Convention which is taking place later this month.

The ability to submit, store, and manage your cards with the eBay Vault is relatively new and it highlights how eBay is committing a lot of time and resources to the trading card market. The platform has been used by collectors and traders for years now, but these recent changes have made it much more accessible and enjoyable to use.

If you do send cards in, make you sure ship them properly.

It’s important to note that there is a price cap on the Vault services. Currently, only cards that are priced at $250 or more will be accepted into the Vault.

Cards From Other Sites Are Allowed

One of the best things about the eBay Trading Card Vault is that cards that you have stored with other services are still eligible to be stored in the Vault. As long as the card meets all the value and authentication requirements, you’ll be able to send it in.

While this is great, it’s important to note that there is still a limit on which authentication services are accepted by the eBay Vault. The accepted authentication services are:

  • Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA)
  • Sportscard Guaranty Corporation (SGC)
  • Certified Collectibles Group’s affiliates
  • CGC Trading Cards
  • Certified Sports Guaranty (CSG)
  • Beckett Grading Services (BGS)

As the service expands along with the market, it’s possible that more could be added to this list.

The Submission Fees Are Very Low

One of the best reasons to use the eBay Vault service this year is that there are currently no fees for submitting cards. Fees will come into play in 2024 but it’s currently free to submit your cards to have them authenticated and stored.

There are also no storage or selling fees, and buyers’ premium fees won’t be in place until 2024 either. There is a withdrawal fee, but this is capped off at $50 per card which is reasonable.
