Hark! The long-awaited moment hath arrived, forsooth, as the Dominion app is now freely attainable on iOS, Android, and Steam. This application doth serve as the sanctioned digital rendition of the celebrated deckbuilder card game, procurable for coin in game emporiums ‘cross the realm.
Dominion is introduced as a free-to-play game, allowing players to engage with the ‘Base’ set of cards, featuring 26 distinct Kingdom cards, three basic Victory sets, and three basic Treasure sets.
For those seeking expanded gameplay options, expansions can be acquired at prices ranging from $4.99 to $10.99 USD.
The Launch Bundle offers a cost-effective way to obtain all fifteen expansions together. Spanning from Intrigue to Plunder, this bundle is a comprehensive choice for Dominion enthusiasts. The digital bundle is conveniently purchasable through the in-game store on the Dominion app for iOS or Android, as well as on Steam. Included in the bundle are all 15 expansions, support for 5 and 6 player games, and ranked matchmaking.
We don’t usually write video game or app news here on Sleeve No Card Behind, but it is well-known that Dominion helped popularize the deck-building genre of games that certainly led to the online Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, and Yu-GiOh! games we love today.
Steam Reviews Are ‘Very Positive’
On the day of launch (February 1st, 2024) Dominion has a ‘Very Positive’ review rating on Steam.
This equates to 80%-94% positive reviews.
With over 1,000 reviews so far, this is considered a fantastic launch for Temple Gates Games. After scrolling through the reviews, I noticed that much of the negative feedback comes from the various DLC expansions locked behind $4.99-$10.99 USD purchases.
Playing for an hour myself, I found the Steam app to be intuitive and full of satisfying sounds and special effects.
Playing the game digitally has many perks, such as an increased pace, and players not having to worry about the real-world pains like setup and teardown of the game.
Temple Gates Games
Dominion marks the fifth digital board game offering from Temple Gates Games, following closely on the heels of Roll for the Galaxy.
Renowned for their inclusion of artificial intelligence that learns within their board game applications, Temple Gates Games utilizes neural networks to adeptly grasp intricate strategies.
Dominion is also their biggest launch yet, and given its success, we should see continuing support and updates from the talented dev team.
