Adaptations of trading card games aren’t common- usually, other pieces of media are adapted into trading card games instead of the other way around. That’s why it’s always so intriguing to see a non-TCG adaptation of a huge trading card game like Digimon to pop up.
It was announced recently that a Digimon trading card game webcomic called Digimon Liberator is in the works and should be available in 2024. It’s got the community incredibly excited, and it could be a great way to get new players interested in the Digimon TCG, too.
Here’s what we know about the Digimon TCG webcomic so far, including the release period and the characters that have been announced so far. There isn’t a huge amount of information available yet, but we do know that the next official announcement with updates is just around the corner.
It Will Come Out In 2024
Firstly, there has not been an official specific release date announced for the Digimon Liberator webcomic yet at the time of writing. The release period that’s been indicated so far is Spring 2024, which means it should be coming out from anywhere between late March to late June next year.
It’s hard to say without more information when exactly this webcomic will be released, but our prediction is that it should be available around late April to June based on Digimon’s usual release schedule with other projects.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated via social media when we know more, though. We’re big Digimon fans here at Sleeve No Card Behind, so it’s super exciting to see such an interesting thing being added to the 2024 release schedule for the franchise.
The Characters Will Have Individual Digimon Deck Types
So far, there have been a handful of characters announced via the official Digimon Liberator webcomic website, but there isn’t much information available about them yet. There are two human Trainer characters and two Digimon characters, and the designs look incredible.
Digimon always delivers when it comes to vibrant and unique character concepts.
One thing that we do know from the official character reveals is that there will be specific Digimon card deck types for each character. An example of this is shown below- and as you can see, not much else is known about these intriguing characters yet.
Currently, it’s not clear whether this will just be a standard TCG deck type that Digimon fans currently use when playing the game or not. It’s possible that the webcomic may introduce new deck types or even cards (which could lead to some exciting TCG releases) but it’s more likely that the series will follow the general gist of the main game.
Other than this, we don’t have much else that we can share about this upcoming release right now. It was announced in the official announcement trailer that the next Digimon Liberator webcomic update will be in January 2024, so there won’t be much longer to wait if you’re excited to start diving into this new Digimon material.
Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a specific January date announced for this next update. Check back with us regularly, though. We’ll be sure to keep you all posted here about what’s next for Digimon next year.
2024 is set to be a big year for the trading card game world in general, but it’s exceptionally exciting to see something this unique on the horizon almost immediately. Fans already seem to be hyped about this webcomic on social media and online forums, so it’ll be interesting to see how they respond to a larger announcement in January.
