Here’s the full interview, looking at their custom artwork and what inspires them, their favorite Pokémon generation, and more.
Seorockart Pokémon Art Interview
Hello! Could you please introduce yourself and your art?
Rock: Hello, my name is Vinícius Rocha and I go by Rock. My pronouns are he/they. I am 19 years old, and I use the names “rockduartisc” and “seorock” on social media- you can find me by searching for either of these on platforms like Reddit and Instagram.
I create custom Pokémon art scenes where I place people into the Pokémon universe, drawing them as trainers.
What inspired you to start creating your artwork? Why Pokémon?
Rock: I started drawing Pokémon because I’ve loved them since childhood. I’ve always wanted to be a part of the Pokémon universe, which inspired me to help other fans of the franchise live the same fantasy through my artwork.
My first ever game was Pokémon Emerald.
Do you have any favorite Pokémon to draw?
Rock: I love drawing Jirachi, Latios, and Pawmot; these are some Pokémon that I’ve developed a strong affection for over the years.
What would you say the best Pokémon generation is?
Rock: In my view, the first generation is the best.
If you were a trainer, what Pokémon type would you specialize in?
Rock: If I were to specialize in a particular Pokémon type, it would definitely have to be Ghost-type Pokémon.
Are there any artists in the community you’re a fan of?
Rock: There aren’t many Pokémon-specific artists that I follow or use as references, but I’m a big fan of a Brazilian artist named Guilherme Freitas, known as Brush Rush online.
Is there anything else you’d like people to know about your art?
Rock: I love my art, and I love dedicating my time to bringing the dreams of other Pokémon fans to life. It’s also incredibly helpful, as in a way, it’s my job.
As a Pokémon fan, you’re sure to have pictured yourself as a Trainer or as a Gym Leader at least once or twice before. Seorockart’s work is an absolute dream for Pokémon fans and, currently, he’s accepting commissions via Reddit DM.
Make sure to check out their other social media pages, too. There’s a ton of incredible artwork on there already and there’s sure to be plenty more in the future.
